Memorial Day
A Southern gothic short film. When his older brother falls deathly ill, Connor seeks help from a mysterious stranger he finds lurking around outside the house.
This collaboration with director Ben Watts contains some of my personal favorite work as a DP. We shot the film near Ben’s hometown in Georgia, where he found the perfect location for the project. It was an amazing old house full of texture, with a great hallway, and beautifully moody natural light. We had full access to the house for several days before the shoot, so Ben and I spent hours soaking up the atmosphere and molding our plan to fit the space. This time spent was hugely valuable, as once production began I felt familiar with the space and confident about capturing what it had to offer.
