Dalai Lama
A short film about what happens when you get too good at meditating. Starring Stephanie Hunt, Jesse Plemons, Megan Mullally, Nick Offerman, Derek Waters, and Elisha Yaffe.
Dalai Lama was directed by Jeremy Cohen, who shot the majority of the film digitally in a stripped-down verite style. However, he wanted to visually distinguish the “real life” scenes in the story from the climactic fantasy/meditation scenes. To that end, Jeremy called on me to shoot the meditation sequences on super 16mm, which brought a distinct look and texture to those parts of the film. With only two rolls of film, we shot the scenes guerrilla style one morning on the Pacific coast. The film premiered at the 2013 HollyShorts Film Festival and is currently making the rounds.
